We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support.
Regarding the recent reported fatal accident involving regenerative medicine (stem cell administration), we would like to first express our deepest condolences to the deceased and their family. The reported accident occurred at a different medical institution than ours. We hope that patients can rest assured.
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is currently investigating the cause, and details have yet to be made clear. Our hospital is not in a position to evaluate or discuss responsibility for individual medical institutions, and we believe that we must wait until the facts are clarified. Meanwhile, we will continue to prioritize patient peace of mind and work to further strengthen safety management.
Since the introduction of regenerative medicine at our hospital, we have been requiring patients to submit a pre-treatment health check to properly assess the risks associated with stem cell administration. This is an essential process to ensure patient safety, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we appreciate your continued cooperation.
Furthermore, one thing that requires particular attention in stem cell therapy is "quality control during cell transportation." Because cells are extremely delicate, any temperature disturbances during transportation pose a risk to safety.
In this regard, our hospital has had an in-house laboratory (a facility for culturing and testing cells) since we first began providing regenerative medicine. By completing all processes in-house, we are able to eliminate the risks associated with transportation and provide treatment in safer conditions. We also conduct strict checks based on national and international standards, and, when necessary, have external organizations check the procedures to ensure the safety of our patients.
In response to this accident, we immediately conducted an emergency inspection and reconfirmed our safety measures at our hospital. We will also work with external experts to strengthen our safety system to even stricter standards.
We will also sincerely answer any questions you may have, so that not only the patients receiving treatment but also their families can feel at ease. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact us.
We take this incident very seriously and will fulfill our responsibility to protect the potential and safety of regenerative medicine. We will continue to provide trusted medical care, putting the lives and health of our patients first, in order to build a better medical care for the future.
