We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support.
Regarding the recent death related to regenerative medicine (stem cell administration) that has been reported, first and foremost, we offer our deepest condolences to the deceased and their family. The incident reported in the news occurred at a medical institution other than ours. We hope that patients will be reassured. The Ministry of
Health, Labour and Welfare is currently investigating the cause, and the details have not yet been clarified. Our hospital is not in a position to evaluate or discuss the responsibility of individual medical institutions, and we believe that we must wait for the facts to be clarified. On the other hand, we will continue to prioritize the safety of our patients and work to further strengthen our safety management. Since
the introduction of regenerative medicine, our hospital has required patients to submit a pre-treatment healthcare check in order to appropriately assess the risks associated with stem cell administration. This is an essential process to protect the safety of our patients, and although it may cause some inconvenience, we ask for your continued cooperation.
In addition, one of the things that requires particular attention in stem cell therapy is "quality control during the process of transporting cells." Because cells are extremely delicate, there is a risk of compromising their safety if temperature or other factors are disturbed during transport.
In this regard, our hospital has had an "in-house laboratory (a facility for culturing and testing cells)" since the beginning of our regenerative medicine practice. By completing all processes within the hospital, we eliminate the risks associated with transportation and can provide treatment in a safer state. Furthermore, we conduct rigorous checks based on national and international standards, and incorporate verification by external organizations as needed, to protect the safety of our patients.
Following this incident, we immediately conducted an emergency inspection and reconfirmed our safety measures within the hospital. We are also advancing collaboration with external experts to further strengthen our safety system with even stricter standards.
We will also sincerely address any questions you may have, ensuring peace of mind not only for the patients themselves but also for their families. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We take this incident very seriously and will fulfill our responsibility to protect the potential and safety of regenerative medicine. Putting the lives and health of our patients first, we intend to continue providing trustworthy medical care and build a better future for medicine.
